Event description

Description

Harlan W. Butt is considered one of the world’s premier contemporary enamellists. With over 40 years of experience working in metal and enamel, Harlan has mastered the traditional techniques in his field and has given the medium his own inspiring twist. In his work, Harlan captures the beauty of nature with fired glass applied to metal vessels. He was Regents Professor of Art at the University of North Texas where he taught from 1976 to 2017. He is past President of the Enamelist Society, past President of the Society of North American Goldsmiths and a Fellow of the American Crafts Council. His work is represented in the collections of the Enamel Arts Foundation in Los Angeles, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institute, the Museum of Art & Design in New York, the Metal Museum in Memphis, TN, the National Gallery of Australia and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, among others.

We are pleased to have Harlan at Peters Valley to teach a workshop on our campus during this week. This lecture is one you don’t want to miss!
