Description

Understanding the role of geography is crucial in epidemiology and, more broadly, public health. This one-day workshop provides a hands-on investigation of getting the most from your ArcGIS Platform.


Agenda:

  • Web GIS overview – 1 hour
  • Hands-on exercises – 3 hours
    • Configure Collector for ArcGIS and Survey123 to collect safety data in the field;
    • Monitor field activities using Operations Dashboard;
    • Configure public-facing data discovery app using Web App Builder and / or configurable templates;
    • Configure Crowdsource Reporter solution app to allow constituents the opportunity to report potential issues;
    • Configure a Story Map to provide guidance to decision makers.
  • Demonstrate exploring and analyzing data to plan an educational / outreach campaign for the public using ArcGIS Insights. – 1 hour
  • Demonstrate performing advanced analytics for better planning field assignments and identifying potential concentrations / clusters of issues using spatio-temporal analysis tools in ArcGIS Pro. – 1 hour


Speakers:

  • Derek Law works on the Apps Product Management Team at the Esri Redlands, California office. He is involved with requirements gathering, software development, and product evangelism. His technical expertise is focused on ArcGIS for Server, Portal for ArcGIS, and web mapping technologies. He has an MSc in remote sensing from the University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.   • Tanya Bigos has nearly 20 years of experience in GIS and almost a decade focused on health and GIS. After working exclusively with private healthcare organizations she has expanded to public healthcare organizations at the federal down to the municipal level. What should I bring into the event?

Attendees supply their own laptop and device — smartphone or tablet. An ArcGIS Online subscription will be provided. Past GIS experience is not necessary.

Which amenities are available at or near the facility?

There is a café onsite for lunch. The DoubleTree by Hilton Boston North Shore is conveniently located for lodging.
