WHAT TO EXPECT:

Bench Press (225 LBS x failure), 10/20 yd. sprint, 3-cone drill, Shuttle (5-10-5), Vertical Jump, Standing Broad Jump
20/40 yd. sprint, 3-cone drill, Shuttle (5-10-5), Vertical Jump, Standing Broad Jump
Players are required to bring their own helmet & shoulder pads to participate.
All timed tests will be measured with electronic timing. All players should be aware that since the CFL is a speed game, in order to ensure an absolute minimum of athleticism there will be an automatic cut-down of players who run slower than the following maximal allowable time in the 40 yd. sprint test:
D.B. and Rec.: 4.75 seconds
L.B. and R.B.: 4.85 seconds
If you are cut, your payment will not be refunded. No exceptions.
Structure – Days 2 & 3: April 15 & 16/17: Skills Practices
All Players, Padded Practices:
One of the biggest complaints football players consistently make about FA-tryouts is that they do not get enough opportunities to show their actual playing skills and especially they do not get to do so while wearing pads thus removing the vital element of physicality from their tryout. In this FA camp you will get ample opportunity to show playing skills and doing so while wearing pads!... On Day 2 & 3 all players will go through full positional drills practices, wearing helmets and shoulder pads under the instruction of the coaching staff of the University of Guelph -one of Canada’s consistent top-5 football programs. (This is done so the professional coaching staffs and scouts of Winnipeg, Toronto and Saskatchewan can fully engage in watching and evaluating all the players).
As this is a serious professional FA-tryout, all events are closed to the public. Only participating players, CSI staff and the staffs of Winnipeg, Saskatchewan and Toronto will be allowed entrance to either the California Sports Institute facility or the practice field venue. No exceptions. Participating players are encouraged to bring with them 3 data sticks with game film on them. (Winnipeg, Toronto and Saskatchewan strongly suggest that you only put continuous games or halfs on the tape and strongly discourage you to put personal highlight packages on the data sticks).
Players are required to provide for their own room and board and transportation. It is also the responsibility of the players to bring their own source of hydration.
Players will be required to stay above-the-waist on all contact and there will be no live tackling in any drill. Tackling or intentionally hitting an opponent below the waste will result in immediate removal from the camp and your participation fee will not be refunded.
