The half-day conference, Gathering Leaves for Your Family Tree, will include six presentations, one-on-one sessions, and sales of books and merchandise.
Register for one session in each timeslot, e.g., do not sign up for both Genealogy 101 and Genetic Genealogy. A separate registration is needed for each conference attendee.
Note: All seats for Sessions 2, 4 and 6 have been taken. Please email us at FRGSconference@gmail.com to be waitlisted.
Is there a cost for the conference?
FRGS is pleased to offer this educational conference at no cost to attendees. Society membership information will be available and non-members are encouraged to join. Dues are $15 for an individual and $20 for a family. The FRGS membership period is January through December. Membership for new members who join at the conference will expire December 2017. Although there is no cost for the conference, donations are always welcome.
Where and when will the conference be held?
The conference will be held at the Headquarters Branch of the Central Rappahannock Regional Library, 1201 Caroline St., Fredericksburg, VA, 22401. Phone: 540-372-1144.
Conference registration will start at 9:00 a.m., with the first sessions starting at 9:30 a.m. The conference will end at 1:00 p.m.
How do I register?
Sessions 1, 3 and 5 will be held in the library's auditorium and can seat 100 people. Sessions 2, 4 and 6 will be held in the library's meeting room and can accommodate 25 people. Select the "Register" button above and then select the sessions you wish to attend. Register for one session in each timeslot. A separate registration is needed for each conference attendee. If registration for a particular session has filled, please email email@example.com to be wait listed.
How do I sign up for a one-on-one session?
One-on-one sessions for intermediate and advanced researchers are available with an FRGS volunteer to help you break through a brick wall you may have. Tick the One-on-One Sessions box on the registration form and you will be contacted to discuss your requirements and set up an appointment.
What is the book sale?
FRGS has dissolved its library. After donating about 25 percent of the holdings to the Central Rappahannock Heritage Center, the remainder will be available for purchase, as a fundraiser for FRGS.
What merchandise will be for sale?
For the first time, FRGS will have for sale T-shirts and totes emblazoned with our handsome new logo.
Will handouts be available?
Speaker handouts that we receive before the conference will be available for attendees to download and print prior to the conference. Speaker handouts also will be available to download to your device at the conference. Emails will be sent to conference registrants when the handouts are available.
What's the parking situation?
There is parking in the CRRL's parking lot behind the library, accessed from Lewis St., and on the street. (Note that here also will be a festival going on four blocks down Sophia Street at Riverfront Park that day.)
Are you going to feed me?
We are pleased to provide continental breakfast items, coffee and water during the conference.
