Description

Franklin County Visitors Bureau invites all to experience African American history at the Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Center. On Saturday, February 22, the Franklin County Visitors Bureau is offering a presentation on Franklin County's Underground Railroad and the United States Colored Troops starting at 1:00 PM.

Presentation will include biography and discussion of the following USCT soldiers: Henry Watson, Wesley Krunkleton, Hezekiah Watson, Jacob Christy, George Brummzig, John Shirk, and Joseph Rideout. Following the presentation, we will visit Mount Vernon Cemetery and the grave sites of: Henry Watson and other USCT soldiers plus the grave site of African-American abolitionist and inventor Joseph Winters.

The entire event is free and open to the public and will take place in the Great Room on the second level of the Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Center. All are welcome.
