Nate Silver, founder and editor-in-chief of FiveThirtyEight, joins Tribune co-founder and CEO Evan Smith in conversation about the state of politics and polling heading into the 2020 election cycle. Silver founded the FiveThirtyEight.com blog in 2008 after working for years in sports journalism and analysis. He rose to prominence after succesfully predicting the outcomes in 49 of the 50 states in the 2008 U.S. presidential election and being named one of the "The World's 100 Most Influential People" by Time in 2009. Silver sold FiveThirtyEight to ESPN in 2013 became its editor-in-chief, focusing on a broad range of subjects through the lens of data journalism. Silver is also the author of "The Signal and the Noise: Why So Many Predicitions Fail – but Some Don't."
