Event description

Description

Skip the line and join us for this special pre-Texas Tribune Festival kick-off event at the legendary Franklin Barbecue with world-class fare, cold beer and conversation.

Dean Baquet, executive editor of The New York Times, joins Tribune co-founder and CEO Evan Smith in conversation about the state of politics and the role of media heading into the 2018 elections. Baquet serves in the highest ranked position in The Times’s newsroom and oversees The New York Times news reporting in all its various forms. Before assuming the executive editor position in 2014, Baquet served as The Times's Washington bureau chief, and later its managing editor.

Tickets to this event are sold separately from a Texas Tribune Festival registration, and a Festival registration is not included with a ticket to the Franklin Barbecue Feast. Tickets to this event are extremely limited and sell out quickly, so get yours today! Limited parking is available in the adjacent parking lot, as well as on the streets surrounding the building.

The Texas Tribune Festival brings together some of the biggest names in politics and public policy to explore and discuss the state’s and nation’s most pressing issues. More information at festival.texastribune.org.

This event is presented by NRG Energy. More about Texas Tribune Festival sponsorship can be found here. Though donors and corporate sponsors underwrite The Texas Tribune events, they play no role in determining the content, panelists or line of questioning.
