Frank Lloyd Wright Affleck House - House and Landscape Design Tour
Sat, April 22, 2017, 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM EDT
Enjoy this one day, limited opportunity to learn more about the connection between the house and the landscape at the Frank Lloyd Wright Affleck House.
The Affleck House, owned by Lawrence Technological University, was completed in 1941. The house is built into the side of a hill, overlooking a ravine and pond. The house and surrounding landscape together offer an opportunity to experience and learn about Frank Lloyd Wright’s approach to designing buildings in harmony with nature.
This event includes a guided tour of the house interior as well as the exterior landscape. The tour will also highlight restoration work now underway and plans for revitalizing the native woodland environment.
Due to the historical status and intimate nature of the House, many rooms and passageways are very narrow and therefore the house is not wheelchair accessible. Limited photography for personal use only is permitted. In consideration of other guests, please use handheld cameras only, no tripods or flash photography.
Please note: Low-heeled, comfortable shoes are recommended. This tour will involve walking and can include both paved and unpaved terrain. The event will be offered rain or shine, please dress for the weather.
Please register early for this small-group tour as capacity is limited.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Parking at or near Affleck House is limited to a few spots on Bloomfieldwoods Ct and some parallel parking on Scenic Oaks Dr. We recommend carpooling as much as possible.
