Both originally from Australia and Indonesia and now based in New York City in pursuit of a postgraduate degree at New York University, Nic Vardanega and Francesca Prihasti are emerging voices on the international jazz scene. They have studied with the likes of Peter Bernstein, Adam Rogers, Wayne Krantz, Alan Broadbent, Kevin Hays, Ari Hoenig, Drew Gress, and Mike Rodriguez, Nic and Francesca have also recorded together alongside drummers Ulysses Owens Jr and Rodney Green as well as bassists Orlando Le Fleming and Marco Panascia. With each being an established composer in their own right, their music draws from a wealth of original material in addition to a deep knowledge of the jazz tradition, which they render with fresh modern interpretations. They will both make their debut at Club Bonafide, presenting compositions from their recorded releases as well as some more recently composed material.

"Vardanega’s solos are inventive and they maintain a consistent narrative that preserves the motif in a quietly eloquent way." - The Weekend Australian

“Talented guitarist/composer Nic Vardanega’s debut CD features his outstanding Sydney based quartet, in an attractive collection of well crafted originals that is a great introduction to his music, of which I’m sure we’ll be hearing much more in the years to come." - Mike Nock

“Prihasti’s sprightly solo glides with imaginative melodic ideas” John Mcbeath, The Weekend Australian

“Prihasti’s delicately considered improvisations feel as though they are gliding down the piano in a dancing line – like water droplets dancing down a window – to a beautiful chord which hits with the rest of the band.” Samuel Cottell, Cut Common Mag, Australian Jazz
