“Prayer and Ignatian Contemplation”

Fr. Sean Morris, OMV

November 30, 2017, Our Lady of Light

Throughout the history of the Church every saint has emphasized the importance of prayer. We are told that prayer is essential in our relationship with God and our salvation. Yet, it is also something that is mysterious and at times difficult. Fr. Sean will be sharing his observations about how we can become comfortable with the mystery of prayer and how we can know that prayer, whether full of consolations or difficulties, always brings us deeper into the life of the Trinity.

Fr. Sean Morris received his undergraduate degree in English/Secondary Education from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. After graduating he began working as a middle school teacher in a small Eskimo village in Western Alaska. In 2000, Fr. Sean entered the seminary for the Oblates of the Virgin Mary in Boston, Massachusetts. While in the seminary, Fr. Sean received both his Masters of Divinity and a Masters in Theology degree from St. John’s seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts. In 2003, he made his first profession as a religious, and in 2009 was ordained a priest. Along with numerous workshops and retreats which have focused on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, Fr. Sean has also attended Creighton University’s Spirituality Program in Omaha, Nebraska, and studied spiritual direction at the Lanteri Center in Denver, Colorado. Fr. Sean is a certified spiritual director.
