Event description

Description

Tired of programming with just microcontrollers? Are you interested in learning more about FPGAs? Want to network with Intel hiring managers for the potential of internships or full time positions? Do you like raffle with prizes? Do you like free food?

Join engineers from Intel for two FPGA related workshops, aimed at different skill levels on Thursday, October 26th, in Building 20, Room 136 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm. Dinner will be provided!

Here are breif descriptions of the two workshops being offered!

Introduction to FPGAs and Quartus Development Tools Workshop.

The introductory workshop consists of a 45 minute lecture and 3 hour lab explaining how FPGAs work and the associated design flow using the Quartus development tools. The associated lab guides student through project creation and setup, followed by writing Verilog code for a series of small electronics projects that are programmed onto the DE0-CV FPGA development kit. This course is ideally suited for first and second year EE/CS students familiar with Boolean combinational logic and sequential logic who have written small amounts of code in software languages such as C, Java or Python.

Introduction to Embedded Design using Quartus and Qsys

This workshop consists of a 45 minute lecture and 3 hour lab explaining how to use Intel’s Nios II processor, associated Qsys system development tool and Eclipse IDE to train the student how to assemble a customized embedded system using an FPGA “soft” Nios II processor, peripherals and FPGA fabric. The associated lab will take the student through all steps from project setup, hardware development, embedded software development and downloading the resulting project on the DE0-CV development kit. This course is ideally suited for third and fourth year EE/CS students familiar with computer architecture and embedded software development in C.

Be sure to bring your resumes to directly give to Intel employees for the chance at an internship or full time position!
