Fourth Coast Ensemble A DREAM AND A MOUSE: State Street Gallery
Tue, April 4, 2017, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM CDT
"If you can dream it, you can do it. Always remember that this whole thing was started with a dream and a mouse."
~Walt Disney (1901-1966)
You've got a friend in Fourth Coast Ensemble when you attend the classical vocal quartet's engaging recital at the RMU State Street Gallery in downtown Chicago.
In cooperation with Chicago Opera Theater and the Chicago Premiere of Philip Glass’ opera Perfect American, Fourth Coast Ensemble presents a concert highlighting the life of Walt Disney. Chicago-based recitalist and two-time Piano Fellow at the Tanglewood Music Festival Matthew Gemmill joins the group on this program, weaving quotes and stories of Walt together within an art song format.
Featuring Nonsense Songs from Alice in Wonderland by Liza Lehmann (1862-1918) and selections by contemporary American art song composers Juliana Hall, Daron Hagen, and John Musto, this concert offers a touch of whimsy, nostalgia, and fantasy.
