Fourth Coast Ensemble A DREAM AND A MOUSE: Parlor Concert
Sat, April 1, 2017, 7:00 PM – 9:30 PM CDT
"If you can dream it, you can do it. Always remember that this whole thing was started with a dream and a mouse."
~Walt Disney (1901-1966)
Enjoy a boutique concert performance with Chicago's classical vocal quartet in the River West home of Doctors Thomas and Joan Stelmack. One of Fourth Coast Ensemble's signature formats, you will attend this parlor concert beginning with 30 minutes of refreshments, full in-home vocal recital with guided conversation from the performers, followed by a reception.
In cooperation with Chicago Opera Theater and the Chicago Premiere of Philip Glass’ opera Perfect American, Fourth Coast Ensemble presents a concert highlighting the life of Walt Disney. Chicago-based recitalist and two-time Piano Fellow at the Tanglewood Music Festival Matthew Gemmill joins the group on this program, weaving quotes and stories of Walt together within an art song format.
Featuring Nonsense Songs from Alice in Wonderland by Liza Lehmann (1862-1918), selections by contemporary American art song composers Juliana Hall, Daron Hagen, and John Musto, and a few classic Disney treasures, this concert offers a touch of whimsy, nostalgia, and fantasy.
