GOLD MEDALLION RECIPIENTS: On Thursday, February 6 we would like to present Morrill Worcester, Founder of Wreaths Across America, and his wife Karen Worcester, Executive Director with the Four Chaplains Memorial Foundation’s highest award – The Gold Medallion. Last year the “Wreaths Across America” Foundation delivered over 1.2 million wreaths across America highlighted by their annual trip to Arlington Cemetery. Come hear the story on how a humble gesture in 1992 to donate and place wreaths on one section of Arlington Cemetery grew into an annual and national event. Wreaths Across America is now recognized as one of the best nonprofit organizations in the world which honors Veterans.

HUMANITARIAN AWARD: Also, please come meet our Humanitarian of the Year Award recipient Ms. June Robbins, former “Rosie the Riveter” who worked at Pier 1 at the Navy Yard during WWII and now is a member of “Thanks Plain and Simple” an organization that encourages people to pull together through the American Rosie Movement. Her passion and pride for her role supporting the war effort is not only interesting but inspiring. The “Rosies” hope to inspire all young girls and women to dream big and work hard.

The Legion of Honor Award programs publicly recognizes and honors outstanding members of society whose lives model the giving spirit and unconditional service to community, nation, and humanity without regard to race, religion, or creed exemplified so dramatically by the Four Chaplains.

Since the late 1940’s the Chapel of the Four Chaplains has been telling the story of the Four Chaplains and encouraging selfless sacrifice and interfaith cooperation. On February 15, 2001, the Chapel of the Four Chaplains moved to 1201 Constitution Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19112 the site of a World War II Navy Chapel.
