A Founders Space Roundtable is a monthly meeting where founders get together to share knowledge, solve problems and make connections. Each Roundtable tackles a specific subject, such as raising capital, negotiating term sheets, attracting talent, creating marketing plans, and filing patents. The session begins with industry experts providing detailed advice. Then we roll up our sleeves, gather into small groups, and help each other with issues we’re facing.
Chris Gottschalk of Blumberg Capital has over 8 years of experience as an investor, entrepreneur, operational executive and investment banker within the technology space. Prior to Blumberg, Chris worked at Menlo Ventures where he pursued investment opportunities in mobile, internet, gaming, software, and e-commerce. Before joining Menlo Ventures, Chris served as the Director of Corporate Development & Analytics at PlayPhone. In this role he was responsible for M&A sourcing and execution, strategic partnerships, and improving operational metrics. Chris also worked as an investment banking analyst in the TMT group at Cowen and Company where he completed a number of M&A and equity transactions in the digital media and communications equipment sectors. Chris began his career at Intel as an operations financial analyst within the Flash Products Division. Chris earned a B.A. with a double major in Economics and Political Science from the University of California, Davis and an MBA from IESE Business School in Barcelona. Chris was selected as a Kauffman Finalist in 2012.
Danny Crichton of General Catalyst Partners focuses on research and sourcing of early stage investments. Prior to joining General Catalyst Partners, Danny interned as an Associate Product Manager at Google, where he helped lead the development of Google+ Search, and prior to that was an Analyst Intern at the Central Intelligence Agency. Steve Hoffman of Founders Space has seen hundreds of startups and knows how investors make their funding decisions. Hoffman is also an experienced entrepreneur and fund raiser. He has raised funding for 3 different startups — two as CEO and one as COO. Each time it was $5 million or more from VCs. He has also raised angel funding, as well as millions in debt financing. Hoffman spent nearly a year working inside one of the top VC firms on Sandhill Road, as his company was being incubated by the firm. He understands how the decisions are made on the inside and why certain startups are continually rejected, while others are funded right away.
