Description

This is the Downtown Painesville Organization's annual Founder's Day Breakfast. This buffet breakfast will feature Lee Coffee, Jr. who is a graduate of T.W. Harvey High School.

Mr. Coffee successfully served in numerous leadership positions during twenty-four years in the U.S. Army; to include an assignment as Installation Equal Opportunity Advisor, Fort Sam Houston (FSH), Texas; First Sergeant, “Alpha Warriors,” Brooke Army Medical Center, FSH; Senior Drill Sergeant 187th Medical Battalion, and Platoon Sergeant, 47th Field Hospital, Fort Sill Oklahoma. Mr. Coffee spent one tour in Germany with the 8th Infantry Division, and one tour in Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Shield; where he augmented the 82nd Airborne Division as Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of the Forward Army Surgical Team (FST).

Mr. Coffee is internationally known as a Buffalo Soldier Historian and expert Chautauqua presenter. He has positive reviews from the Smithsonian National Museum of American History (D.C.); Masonic Museum of our National Heritage in Lexington, (MA), and numerous other organizations to include prisons, corporations,’ schools and government agencies. His unique Chautauqua presentation style helps participants "¼listen for understanding, not for agreement."

Beginning in 1994; in the capacity as Encampment Director for “Heritage Intervention Camps” designed to challenge future leaders mentally, physically and emotionally, he introduced the mythological presence of the “Hero Archetype” to children throughout Texas and Colorado.

In 2004; a $240,000.00 Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities was given to the Colorado Historical Society to extend these encampments to New Mexico, Pennsylvania, and Texas.

Mr. Coffee is a contributing writer to "Black Cowboys of Texas" a book that was awarded the prestigious T.R. Feherenbach award for non-fiction writing in 2001; and, had a prominent role in “Remembering the Alamo,” a film produced by the History Channel. He has also contributed essay to Conversations on Success a book featuring Ken Blanchard, Ty Boyd, Dianna Booher and fourteen other inspiring professionals.
