Course Aims / Summary
This course aims to provide physiotherapists and suitably qualified professionals with the capability to integrate effective massage & manual therapy into their clinical practice.
It aims to give practitioners the knowledge, skills and confidence to work hands-on with their patients in order to support their needs and enable them to improve their health and wellbeing.
This will involve understanding the key factors shown in research to assist recovery.
There will be a strong focus on practical processes, clinician & patient body awareness and improved self-use to engage in treatment recommendations.
On completion of this two day course, delegates will be able to:
Discuss the evidence base relating to massage & manual therapy
Discuss massage, bodywork, stress management, healing & wellbeing
Use massage & manual therapy tools and techniques to facilitate change
Ask more effective questions around core massage & manual therapy concepts to better understand patient's beliefs about manual therapy
Negotiate with patients to integrate manual therapy into a care plan
Hold structured manual therapy sessions set an agenda and follow it
Challenge personal beliefs and reflect on what has to change in their psychomotor-social domain to secure a good outcome for clients
This is a postgraduate course, applicants must be resident in the UK, already qualified as healthcare professional, registered with a recognised UK professional regulation body.
Apart from this, there are no pre-course conditions, aside from an interest in massage, manual therapy, bodywork & self-development.
Jill Wigmore-Welsh MSc GDPhys MCSP has over 40 years expertise in the field of physical & emotional health.
She has extensive knowledge of occupational & vocational rehabilitation and has been Team GB Physiotherapist for two different sports.
She has trained hundreds of clinicians to deliver manual therapy, bodywork & coaching, in her role as rehabilitation consultant and has coached individual Physiotherapists to hone their skills in their communication with patients in order to achieve outstanding results.
Jill is a HCPC registered Physiotherapist has an MSc in public health/promotion is a certified Trainer, assessor & verifier, with Diplomas in hypno-psychotherapy, coaching, movement and linguistics.
