FotoWeekDC 2015 Competition: Photographer's Choice

Portraits, streetscapes, still lives, live action shots, nature moments and more - all are welcome in the Photographer's Choice Category. Just keep in mind: a great imagery is everything, and letting your creative side REALLY shine is the key ingredient to success here.

Rewards
A winner will be awarded for both Single and Series Categories

Curators

     
Monica C. Corcoran Bill Crandall Susan Soroko
A director at National Geographic, where she oversees the Your Shot photo community. Prior to joining National Geographic, she spent 11 years at U.S. News & World Report magazine, where she started as an intern and left as the senior photo editor for the Money & Business section.

She has won numerous awards from notable organizations including the National Press Photographer’s Association, the American Society of Magazine Editors, the Missouri School of Journalism, and the Webby Awards.

Corcoran has judged editorial photo contests for the International editions of National Geographic magazine, as well as media associations like the NPPA, ASMP, and other groups. She has spoken on multiple panels, led photo workshops, and taught at Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies.
An award-winning photographer with more than 20 years' experience in photojournalism for major publications. He has worked as a photo editor and curator, and has conducted lectures, workshops, and portfolio reviews. Currently he works as a photography educator and develops his own long-term projects.

In 2012 Bill published his book The Waiting Room, a ten-year documentary photo series from Belarus, which won 2nd place in FotoweekDC's International Awards. A Voice of America review of The Waiting Room called him "an American master". Material from what will be his next book, focusing on Washington DC neighborhoods, has been published in the Washington Post Magazine and National Geographic's PROOF photo blog.
Currently serves as Director of Creative Economy in the Department of Economic Development of Arlington County, Virginia. She manages new cultural initiatives in Arlington that encompasses a wide range of creative sector development projects. Under the leadership of Arlington Economic Development, Susan works to support both for profit creative industries along-side the non-profit arts organizations and artists.

Before becoming Director of Creative Economy, Susan served as Acting Director of Cultural Development in the Cultural Affairs Division and President and Director of FOLIO, Inc., a stock photography agency based in northern Virginia. She has lectured on stock photography to area colleges and has written feature articles and book reviews for The Picture Professional magazine, the quarterly publication of The American Society of Picture Professionals (ASPP).

Susan was elected as National President of ASPP, served on the Northern Virginia Community College Photography Curriculum Advisory Committee, and was an appointed member of the Arlington County Arts Commission.

Details

All images must be submitted beofre Oct 13th.

Instructions on how to submit images will be sent with the order confirmation.

Images created via any form of photography will be accepted for consideration (film, digital, mobile phone, and alternatives processes), but must be submitted electronically.

FotoWeek DC, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, is committed to raising awareness of the power of photography everywhere, in all its forms.

The winners will be announced in the first week of November 2015. The winning images and honorable mentions from each of the categories will be shown online and exhibited during FotoWeekDC 2015 at the Former Spanish Ambassador's Residence.
