Description

This is an early education workshop designed for teachers of kindergarten through third grade.

The purpose of this workshop is to prepare you to introduce your students to the outdoors in an intentional and educational manner by using science notebooking to record observations at a “sit spot” over the course of the school year.

Participants will:

- Receive information about PEI’s interdisciplinary model and resources

- Create and practice using a science notebook during in-class and field experiences

- Experience several lessons from PEI’s Fostering Outdoor Observation Skills guide

- Learn the benefits of science notebooking for both students and teachers

- Learn methods for assessing science notebook entries

- Leave with ideas for designing their own outdoor observation science notebooking experiences for students

Registration fee includes:

- a personal science notebook

- a copy of PEI’s Fostering Outdoor Observation Skills guide

- 6 Washington State Approved STEM Clock Hours

- the opportunity to earn a $150 implementation stipend (criteria will be shared at the workshop)
