Fostering Future Entrepreneurs: A Sprint for Teachers in Design-Thinking

GRADES 6-12 |November 15 & 16 | 8:00AM-4:00PM | UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA, ST. PAUL CAMPUS | Ruttan Hall room 135b

This two-day course uses a hands-on curriculum, Teen Startup Trainers, designed by Martha Rush, which immerses teachers in design thinking and lean startup methodology concepts to promote entrepreneurship with their students. Dive into these and other concepts, learning to encourage student creativity, divergent thinking, and informed risk-taking. Plus, participating teachers will qualify to bring students in grades 6-12 to a spring 2021 Trade Show to showcase their innovative concepts and win cash prizes. (See photos from the 2019 Trade Show at Wells Fargo on our Facebook page!)

After this course, teachers will be ready to implement the new Teen Startup Trainers curriculum in their classrooms. Using this curriculum, students will develop a growth mindset, reduce the fear of failure, and think of themselves as entrepreneurs. Students will be encouraged to consider starting their own businesses, whether now or in the future, and will develop an interest in and connection to post-secondary education.
