About this Event

FOSTER

Foster is a hard-hitting alternative band that has been active in the Atlanta area since 2015. Their sound has been described as a sweet blend of indie rock and blues styles in the same vein as Alabama Shakes and Amy Winehouse. Foster’s origin story is humble and homemade, starting as an acoustic duo featuring Taylor Foster on vocals and the former guitarist for Gored By A Deer, Tee Gottselig. The band fully fleshed out their energetic songwriting with the addition of Trenton Largin on bass, and later, drummer Jim Dykstra. With a powerful female vocalist, storytelling lyricism, and a dynamic yet groovy rhythm section, Foster puts on an eclectic performance sure to energize any crowd of any age.

KELLY HOPPENJANS

Kelly’s music is intimate and personal, with wryly optimistic lyrics, catchy pop melodies, and a lush mix of stylistic influences from folk to rock to jazz. Her voice is the focal point, with her lilting yet conversational tone drawing comparisons to Joni Mitchell, Jewel, and Regina Spektor. Her indie-folk style, with its dry humor and inventive arrangements, has also been compared to Ben Folds, Ingrid Michaelson, Tori Amos, and Fiona Apple. She released her first EP, Simple Thing, in September of 2015 and her second EP, Dreaming Is Easy, in June of 2015. Her work has been featured in many publications, including NPR's All Songs Considered, Ear to the Ground, East of 8th, Wolf in a Suit, and the Nashville Scene, and her music earned her a spot as a 2017 Kerrville New Folk Finalist and in 2017 Lightning 100 Music City Mayhem.

Through the five songs on her latest EP, Dreaming Is Easy, Kelly Hoppenjans has constructed a dreamscape of folksy yet unfamiliar sounds, inspired by the likes of Paul McCartney’s Ram, Imogen Heap and early Joni Mitchell. With its dark whimsy, arresting vocals, and inventive arrangements, Dreaming is Easy reminds the listener of the fantasy present in everyday life.

CLAYTON WYATT

I am a singer-songwriter from Colorado Springs, CO, now residing in Atlanta, GA. Some of my biggest influences are City and Colour and Jeff Buckley. I have had the privilege of touring extensively up and down the east coast as well as several places in Western Europe.

CALEB BROWN

Caleb Brown is an Atlanta-based singer-songwriter whose music is a fusion of acoustic singer-songwriter, R&B, and pop featuring rhythmic guitar riffs underneath catchy and memorable melodies to create a sound that all types of music listeners can enjoy. His band features Neil Mison on bass, Matthew Bihuniak on drums, and Jack Muta on Keys, all who's unique backgrounds and ecclectic range contribute to the complexity and emotionality of Caleb's songs. The band, recently formed at the end of 2019, creates a groovy and emotionally intimate sound that is both original and approachable.
