Event Details

The Foster Care Roundtable Series is designed to provide opportunities for leaders to respond to contextual, programmatic, and organizational issues faced when preparing and connecting foster youth to quality internships, employment and transitioning to post-secondary options.

The first session will examine the importance of establishing and maintaining stronger community partnerships, access more resources and strengthening program components to improve post- secondary education and employment outcomes for young adults in care. You will get an opportunity to hear from subject matter experts, exchange ideas and strategies, as well as, network with speakers and colleagues.

Participants will walk away with: 

  • Networking with speakers and colleagues to exchange ideas and strategies; 
  • Holistic education models; 
  • Tips and strategies to improve preparedness and outcomes for HSE; and
  • Best practices in afterschool and enrichment programs to support youth transitioning to Post-Secondary options.

Workforce Professionals Training Institute (WPTI) increases the effectiveness of people, programs, and organizations that are committed to generating pathways out of poverty through employment. Our three-tiered approach strengthens capacity at all levels of the workforce development system.

  3. Systems Building: Create linkages, foster research and influence funding and best practice priorities

Since its founding in 2004, WPTI has become the preeminent non-profit training and technical assistance intermediary for New York City’s workforce development community. The organization has trained over 9,000 workforce practitioners from over 900 organizations that collectively serve over 500,000 jobseekers. As a standalone, non-political organization, WPTI provides an inclusive bridge among providers, funders and government agencies that contribute to building NYC’s workforce.

Drawing on well refined resources and relationships, WPTI combines the expertise of highly experienced workforce professionals, direct employer input, academic research, labor market information, and interactive adult learning principles to create high-quality curricula, impactful consulting frameworks, and useful resources for the field.
