SATURDAY, APRIL 8TH [12–3PM], $25

This family workshop promotes early literacy, playing with the making and printing of concertina name books, dwelling with the idea of the reversal of text and letters in printmaking. Parents can assist children to try several simple techniques to write and transfer letters, make and print letters and text with collagraph techniques and gradient inks, and take home a personalized name book for display.

For children age 6 - 12; participants will be using sharp craft knives; parental participation and supervision is necessary.

Instructor Bio: Holding House is an art workspace in SW Detroit, dedicated to offering equitable art access to the Detroit community through multi-disciplinary, family-friendly art experiences. Co - owner Adrienne Dunkerley is a primary school librarian, arts educator, and printmaker from the Detroit area, based in Lausanne, Switzerland. She is most interested in the promotion of multiple literacies with students, actively collaborating with international educators across Europe and working with families at the International School of Lausanne.
