Event Details

In the context of a rapidly changing climate, the Sierra Club and 350.org are co-sponsoring the Forward on Climate Rally to demand that President Obama creates a strong climate policy.

The rally will take place in Washington, DC, during Presidents Day weekend (Sunday, February 17).

We will all be playing a pivotal role to make it the largest climate rally in the history of the United States, with an expected attendance of over 20,000.

With President Obama about to begin his second term, it is critical that he hears from his constituents about the importance of championing strong climate policy.

DETAILS:   (Updated 2/8/13 6pm; look for updates from time to time)

We'll depart Gainesville/Jacksonville from central parking locations by 630pm/9pm Friday, 15-Feb. [From Gainesville's "Greater Northeast Community" and Jacksonville's southside "Deerwood" area (Itinerary details will be provided after bookings)]. We'll arrive in DC Saturday morning 16-Feb at a central/transit-accessible location (Union Station?) and you'll be free to visit the city (food & overnight arrangements are to be made on your own). Sunday 17-Feb, we'll convene on the National Mall for the Forward on Climate Rally starting at 1130am, ending by 4pm.  We'll depart DC by 7pm, and plan to arrive back in Jax/Gnv Monday 18-Feb about 9am +/-.

The bus will originate and terminate at Gainesville, with an intermediate stop in Jacksonville for more passengers.

Bring warm clothes--layers!  It can be cold in Washington during February.  Be sure to make arrangements for overnighting Saturday--on your own; some referrals may be available.  Updates will be offered here and in e-mails to participants from time to time.
