Description

Upper Post Walking Tour: Flag Day, 1942

The year is 1942 and America is at war with the Axis Powers. Just six months prior, Pearl Harbor had been attacked and the country sent reeling from a series of battles, some won and some lost. Hear the stories of Fort Snelling’s role as your grandparent’s generation geared up for war and celebrated their first Flag Day amidst the uncertainty of a cloudy future.

This is a walking tour and will cover rough terrain. We'll meet up at the HQ building--look for the clock tower across from the ball fields. For those that want to take the light rail to the tour, Headquarters building is just a quarter mile from the Fort Snelling Light Rail Station on the Blue line.
