Description

This programme introduces children and teenagers of age 10-17 to hands-on archaeological activities at the national monument of Fort Cornwallis. The Young Archaeologists will participate in excavation, mapping and recording, finds processing and artefact conservation over two sessions on consecutive Saturdays. Participants will be guided by professional archaeologists from University Sains Malaysia, and will receive free admission to Fort Cornwallis. Parents or guardians of participants are welcome to observe the activities.

The Fort Cornwallis Young Archaeologists' Programme is an initiative by the George Town Conservation and Development Corporation (GTCDC) and University Sains Malaysia (USM). We welcome participation from school groups and other relevant organisations. For more information, please contact fortcornwallispa@gmail.com

Photos and videos taken by the organisers during the event may be used for educational and non-commercial purposes.

Participants registering for the August 19th session will automatically be registered for the artefact analysis session on the following Saturday (August 26th).

Participants registering for the September 23rd session will automatically be registered for the artefact analysis session on the following Saturday (September 30th).
