Enjoy the history of the Forgotten Images Exhibit, the Wall of Excellence Presentation and attend the special stage reading of Lady Patriot, a play written and directed by Ted Lange. There will be a variety of booths offering food and other items.

Attend the special stage reading of Lady Patriot, a play written and directed by Ted Lange that tells the story of a freed slave and unlikely spy in the Jefferson Davis White House who helped to bring down the Confederacy with her intelligence work.

Share Forgotten Images: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow (A Free Black History Month Event)

The Andy Street Community Association and Councilman Al Austin, in collaboration with the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association present Forgotten Images: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow, a Black History Month Celebration.  Opening on Thursday, February 1st and ending on February 3rd, this gala event of African American heritage will include the Forgotten Images Collection, Lady Patriot, a play written & directed by Ted Lange and the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Reception. 


 

  • THURSDAY: (5-9pm) Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Reception will start at 5pm with an esteemed panel of guests. Featured guest speaker is seasoned community and economic development practitioner Tunua Thrash-Ntuk.  In addition, the soulful music of the Alvin Hayes, Jr. Trio will end the night as patrons visit vendors.
  • FRIDAY: (6-10pm) Meet Councilman Al Austin at the grand opening.  Enjoy the history of the Forgotten Images Exhibit, the Wall of Excellence Presentation and attend the special stage reading of Lady Patriot, a play written and directed by Ted Lange that tells the story of a freed slave and unlikely spy in the Jefferson Davis White House who helped to bring down the Confederacy with her intelligence work. Question and answer period to follow. There will be a variety of booths offering food and other items.
  • SATURDAY: (11am-5pm) The Andy Street Community Association is hosting an Intergenerational Panel Discussion on Contested Monuments. Attendees are encouraged to visit the St. Mary Medical Center health pavilion to test their wellness and fun activities for the kids. Throughout the day enjoy food, music and entertainment. The weekend will conclude with a community concert.
