The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada will discuss the key policy recommendations and outcomes from the 2013 Pacific Energy Summit. Held in April 2013 in Vancouver, the Summit convened more than 170 senior government officials, academics and industry leaders from across the Asia Pacific region to discuss market and policy mechanisms for deepening North America-Asia energy trade while enhancing environmental sustainability.
Anthony Jude, ADB’s Senior Advisor for Energy and Chair of the Energy Community of Practice, will present North America-focused implications from the Bank’s 2013 Asian Development Outlook: Asia’s Energy Challenge report. Some of the issues to be discussed include:
- Challenges for Asia’s energy security and the implications for the future of North America-Asia energy trade and future pricing regimes, especially for LNG
- North America-Asia co-operation in energy efficiency and in combating climate change
- Energy infrastructure challenges in both North America and Asia
- Mechanisms for acquiring “social license to operate” in both North America and Asia
