The Landowner Workshops are a one day event at four locations in North Carolina to support the forest landowner for information of products and markets, as well as a networking event for the forest products industry in North Carolina.

The workshop starts at 9 am and ends at 4 pm. We start off with introductions and providing an outline of the activities of the workshop. We then take a walk through local forest stands where we will have discussions of products that the stand can make as well as harvesting and regeneration.

We invite the NC Forest Service, consulting foresters, loggers and buyers of timber and logs to put out promotional literature for educational purposes. Industry professionals will lead the discussions on the forest walks.

We plan to have at each location a one hour demonstration of a portable sawmill and firewood processor. We will discuss log grading, log scaling and log sawing techniques, and the of low grade pine and hardwood logs into firewood products.

This project is funded by a RREA grant through the College of Natural Resources at NC State University.
