Forest Crew APRIL

The Forest Crew works on reforestation and restoration projects in the forest of Highbridge Park every Sunday afternoon-- all Spring, Summer and Fall.
Before beginning to drop in to Forest Crew on Sundays, volunteers are asked to attend ONE hands-on orientation!!
ORIENTATION for Forest Crew is the first Saturday of each month. If you missed April's please sign up for a May Orientation.

Volunteers will meet Tony Lewis, or Rosemarie Miner, at the entrance to Highbridge Park on 190th Street and Amsterdam Avenue.
Forest Crew is open to community members who wish to drop in and volunteer on a weekly, bi-monthly and monthly basis. Priority registration will always be given to regular and repeat volunteers if attendance approaches program capacity (15 persons). College and high school students, environmental enthusiasts, and those who are looking to enter the green collar field are strongly encouraged to attend regularly and to view this as an apprenticeship opportunity. Consistency will be rewarded.
To build a more resilient community of citizens who feel connected to their local green spaces and supported by neighbors with similar values.
To improve the health of the forest by identifying and removing invasive plants from our native forest.
To gain hands-on experience, and informal education, to work in the fields of Forestry, Horticulture, and Environmental Science or as preparation for green-collar employment.
