Event description

Description

A great way to start your vacation! Past participants have commented on how a forest bathing experience finally makes them feel relaxed enough to be fully present and HERE in Hawaii. Forbes.com just listed Forest Bathing Hawaii's walks in the top 5 INTERNATIONAL "incredible once-in-a-lifetime travel experiences that should be on every intrepid traveler's bucket list."

On your forest bathing walk, you'll be guided on a gentle, mindful stroll under the Cook pines and the rolling hills of the historic Nutridge Estate. You'll leave behind the stresses of the world and get in touch with the healing powers of the forest. As we move through about a mile of trail with some slight elevation changes, your certified forest therapy guide will offer a series of “invitations” to help you re-connect with nature through your senses.

"Forest Bathing" (translated from "shinrin-yoku," an established public health practice in Japan) is a growing global wellness movement backed by 30 years of scientific research on the physical and psychological benefits of immersing yourself in nature. See more, including recent media coverage on forest bathing at www.forestbathinghi.com.

Please bring water, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, mosquito repellant, a casual backpack to hold your stuff (including a rain jacket), and walking sticks if you need them. For your safety and comfort, recommend wearing close-toed shoes w/ good traction; light-weight long-sleeved shirt & long pants.

Includes tea and snack, plus mats to sit on. Gratuities not included.

Returning forest friends, their referrals, and kama‘āina receive a special 25% discount. Please email to request promo code.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

GPS directions:
Enter "Nutridge Street." The Nutridge Estate is located inside Pu‘u ‘Ualaka‘a State Park (aka Tantalus Lookout). It is about 10 minutes up Round Top Drive from the H1 Freeway.

Driving Directions:
Heading towards the mountains on Punahou St., turn left on Wilder Ave. Turn right on Makiki St and stay on Makiki St, which will turn into Round Top Dr. (do not turn onto Makiki Heights Drive). Follow Round Top Dr. for about 5 minutes until you see the Pu‘u ‘Ualaka‘a State Park (just past the Manoa Valley lookout). You'll see a large yellow gate at the entrance to the park. Please watch for ONCOMING traffic at this hairpin turn; when clear, turn left. Go through the large yellow gate and drive straight ahead. Keep going until you get to the chain link fence gate of the Nutridge Estate. Park there in front of the gate, left side of street.

Your guide will meet you in front of the Estate's gate at the parking area.
