John P. Gobetti, DDS, MS

Dr. John P. Gobetti was a professor and director of undergraduate Oral Medicine/Oral Diagnosis at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He retired on January 1, 2007 and is Professor Emeritus. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1968 with a DDS degree and obtained an MS in Oral Diagnosis and Radiology in 1971 from the University of Michigan. He is board certified in Oral Medicine since 1986. His 40 year academic career has been dedicated to teaching and research at all levels of dentistry. Jack “considers teaching a privilege and an honor”. He has taught and mentored dental students, dental hygienists and numerous residents at all of the programs at the University of Michigan. He had a one day a week private practice in oral medicine and facial pain since 1968. He is semi-retired, changing his focus from graduate and undergraduate academia to providing continuing education courses throughout the state and country.

Course Overview

The course will cover the specific area of forensic dentistry; dental identification of human remains and bite marks. There will be a review of forensic dental identification from a historical perspective and case examples. The course is designed for the dental professional who would like basic knowledge about forensic dentistry/dental identification. The format is lecture and case presentation. Audience participation is encouraged.

Course Objectives

At the completion of this course the participant will be able to:

  • Each participant will able to define forensic dentistry.
  • Each participant will know the relationship of dental identification of human remains to the general dental office.
  • Each participant will be able to assist in dental identification of human remains.
  • Each participant will have a basic knowledge of dental identification of human remains.
  • Each participant will have adequate knowledge for continuing education in the area of forensic dentistry.

Registration will close 2 days prior to ALL course dates. Registration will not be processed until payment is received by Eventbrite. After the registration deadline, please contact the CE office to see if space is available (402-472-2611).

We reserve the right to limit the number of participants and to cancel any course. Confirmation emails are generally sent two weeks prior to the course. If registration and payment were sent at least two weeks prior to the course and no confirmation email is received, please contact Abbey Beardsley at 402-472-2611 to verify that your registration is complete.

CANCELLATIONS:

Participants cancelling their registrations will receive a refund minus a $25 processing fee. Notice of cancellation must be made prior to the course.

NO REFUNDS WILL BE MADE AFTER THE COURSE BEGINS.
