Description

  1. The Preventive Controls for Foreign Supplier Verification Program regulation is intended to ensure safety of imported food into the United States. The regulation requires importers to verify that food they import into the United States is produced in compliance with the hazard analysis and risk-based preventive controls and standards for produce safety provisions of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (the FD&C Act), is not adulterated, and is not misbranded with respect to food allergen labeling.

COURSE CONTENT:

  1. Determining known or reasonably foreseeable hazards with each imported food.
  2. Evaluating the risk posed by a food, based on the hazard analysis, and the foreign supplier’s performance.
  3. Using that evaluation of the risk posed by an imported food and the supplier’s performance to approve suppliers and determine appropriate supplier verification activities.
  4. Conducting supplier verification activities.
  5. Conducting corrective actions.
