Event description

Description

Join us to honor those working to support rights and equality for all at the first annual Interfaith Alliance of Colorado Force For Good Awards. We will be celebrating those who are 'a force for good' in three categories, Congregation, Community and State Legislature.

This years recipients are:

Bishop Karen Oliveto & The Mountain Sky Area of the United Methodist Church, for modeling a commitment to justice and for standing in difficult spaces while grounded in love. Bishop Karen Oliveto is the first openly gay Bishop in the United Methodist Church, and The Mountain Sky Area is the body of churches who are commited to the process and ultimately strive for equality and welcome of all people.

Denver Homeless Out Loud, for their constant call for dignity and rights for those experiencing homelessness. For more than five years, Denver Homeless Out Loud has been calling for basic human rights for people experiencing homelessness, for an end to policies that criminalize people for surviving. Simultaniously, they have been working to create alternative ways of building 'home' and 'community'. This year, they were the key partner in making the Beloved Community Village, Denver's first tiny home village for people experiencing homelessness, a reality.

Representative Joseph Salazar, for being a stalwart leader in the State House working for rights and equality for those most often dehumanized and pushed to the edges. Specifically, for his role in bringing the Freedom Defense Act to the Colorado House and into the public eye as we name together that Colorado will not participate in marginalization, registries, or internment camps of immigrants, refugees, and religious minorities. Rep. Salazar stands with the community to assure that all are safe in Colorado.

The celebration will be at Redline Gallery (2350 Arapaho Street in Denver) at 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

$25 Ticket provides one drink ticket (beer or wine), heavy appetizers, entertainment and great company!

This event benefits The Interfaith Alliance of Colorado and will allow us to continue to drive human rights, equality and opportunity!
