Tracey Elofson is in her early 50’s and was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig ’s disease) in 2011. Her disease is progressing and has required the Elofsons to make home modifications, purchase a motorized wheelchair and wheelchair van, as well as numerous other medical devices. Presently, she will be needing a new ventilator (breathing machine), a shower wheel chair, and Tobii EyeGazer hardware and software that will allow her to “type” using her eyes as she is losing function of her hands.
A number of friends of the Elofson family have gathered together and are planning a Chefs’ Showcase and Silent Auction fundraising dinner. The idea is to raise money for the Elofson family to offset a portion of the myriad expenses associated with the progression of Tracey’s disease. We will charge $100 per person for entry to the dinner and will be auctioning off a number of donated items in a silent auction to raise additional funds.
The idea behind the Chefs’ Showcase is to have a number of Chefs or restaurants from around the Baton Rouge area provide small portions of one of their signature dishes for attendees to sample. We are preparing for 300 people for this event. Each restaurant will have a table at the event from which to serve. We will provide a sign with the restaurant’s name/logo and possibly the dish that they are featuring.
It is our desire to have as much donated for this event as possible so that we can maximize our fundraising efforts for the Elofson Family. All of the proceeds generated from this event will go to the Elofson family.
On behalf of the Elofson family, thank you for considering our request to participate in this event.
