For the Love of Learning: An insight into the world of research
Tue, March 21, 2017, 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM GMT
This talk is aimed at students who wish to strengthen their UCAS application through engaging with research above and beyond the A Level or IB syllabus, perhaps through undertaking an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) or an Extended Essay. Parents and guardians are very much welcome too.
The event will be hosted by Dr Emma Thompson, Learn with US Transition Leader at the University of Southampton. She will highlight how exciting research is very much at the heart of the Russell Group ethos, enriching the teaching of these institutions, like Southampton, across the entire curriculum. She will then discuss the value of undertaking research in school or college, considering the many transferable skills students acquire and how universities admissions processes are increasingly positive towards these students.
Before the event starts, there is the opportunity to undertake a guided walking tour delivered by one of our current Student Ambassadors. The tour will be of the main Highfield Campus where you will visit the Hartley Library, the Jubilee Sports Centre and our Students' Union. It is a chance to learn about university life and see our state-of-the-art facilities for yourself. If you would like to attend the campus tour, please indicate when booking.
