Event description

Description

For Kathy's Sake was started in memory of Katherine Sarah Morris and C.A.S.T. (Community Actively Seeking Transparency) was born out of our 2018 brunch.

We've been inspired by the stories of local families significantly impacted by the lack of greater police accountability and civilian oversight.

C.A.S.T. believes that one of the best ways to bring greater accountability, transparency, equal access, and in some cases closure is through a Civilian Review Board (CRB) empowered to independently review complaints, make independent recommendations, and see the police department and other government agencies take appropriate action.

The issue of accountability and transparency are of great importance to not only families and individuals in Anne Arundel County (AAC), but counties across the state of Maryland.

We invite you to join us where you'll enjoy on topic presentations by Kathleen Kirchner, Esq., Amy Cruice of the ACLU and Ret. Officer Randy Williams. Following the delicious brunch a panel discussion will include representatives from around the state to include the Baltimore and Prince Georges County Citizens Review Boards and law enforcement personel to include Ret. Officer Lydia Polk, the NAACP, Caucus of African America Leader, Standing Up For Racial Justice (SURJ) and others.

This years celebrity host is Ms Tricina Grey of WHUR's 96.3 and during this event we will be presenting the 2019 Outstanding Service Awards to several in the legal community that "Champion the Cause of Change Seekers". Those individuals are Claudia Barber, Esq, , Amy Cruice, Legal Program Mgr. ACLU, Ret. P.G. County Sherrif Jim Davis, Judge Vickie Gipson, Daryl Jones, Esq. Leslie Kim of the John Cook Fraud Report, Kathleen Kirchner, Esq, her brother Brennan McCarthy, Esq., and Ret Officer Sgt. Randy Williams,

Still not sure what this important issue is about, well join us on May 4th to hear and learn more it. This issue is important to the state of Maryland, and is for informational purposes. Know of someone that needs to hear this - invite them to join us.

As always, please let us clarify that anything we do is not intended to negate the work of our many outstanding, police officers that serve every day, and that we are extremely proud of. Our concerns are about the officers and others that do not serve our communities in the “manner of effective policing.”

Good policing helps citizens, bad policing effects everyone..
