Doors open 9:00 a.m. light refreshments available until 10 a.m.

Part 1, 9:30 a.m. to approx.11:30 a.m. open forum discussion exploring the need for effective civilian oversight boards to increase police accountability with Amy Cruice of the American Civil Liberties Union, Carl Snowden, Caucus of African American Leaders, the NAACP, a broad spectrum of community leaders from around the State and others.

Followed by lunch and an opportunity to meet some of the families, see, and hear their stories.

Part 2 is a hands-on workshop from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. "Conquering Giants" - The Everyday Person’s Tools For Self-Advocacy with workshop presentations by:

Claudia Barber, Esq., who prior to serving as an administrative law judge, Claudia Barber owned and operated her own law firm for over 16 years. She represented many churches, small businesses, corporations, and individuals in state and federal courts.

Leslie Kim, of Fight Fraud America has over 45 years of investigative experience and has lectured in many countries around the world.

Rev. Marguerite Morris, Pres. and CEO of For Kathy's Sake. As a pro se' litigate Morris has been able to do over $100,000 in legal work, one case resulting in a "Reported Opinion" challenging the laws of the State of Maryland.

Participates will hear about law library basics, how to approach firms for pro bono help, making Maryland Public Information Act request, how to document your efforts, private investigator basics and much more.
