Event description

FoodCrunch Riverbank Conversations

FoodCrunch has been solely dedicated to helping entrepreneurs change the global food system in beneficial ways, since its founding in 2009. Beneficial change means one or more of the following:

  1. Creating the ability to feed the peak population of the planet, probably between 9 billion and 10 billion people.
  2. Preserving the planet's productive capacity in perpetuity and protecting the environmet.
  3. Mitigating the detrimental health effects of modern diets.

Our organization's flagship event, FoodCrunch Riverbank Conversations is a gathering without a dais, pre-determined agenda or keynote speakers. The best conferences have the best networking. The content is the excuse, but people attend mostly for the other people. So we thought, let’s make the people (and the venue) the magnet, so we can get to the networking as quickly, productively and enjoyably as possible. To this end, we are inviting people with something interesting to say about agriculture or food—change agents—to an inspirational setting with enough infrastructure to promote interaction--and with lots of other things to do.

The Conversations

Once we know who is coming, we will reach out to see who might want to lead a conversation. We will create spaces for conversations and a system to let attendees know the when and the where. Also, we will maintain a “lobby” where folks can just hang out and chat. Finally, there will be plenty of opt-in (no-host) activities to promote interactions, like fly fishing from a drift boat on the nation’s longest undammed river.

The Venue--Montana's Rockey Mountains near Yellowstone National Park

The conversations will take place on a private ranch in Southwest Montana, near the city of Bozeman and 14 miles from a commercial airport. Gallatin Gateway is a historic town on the banks of the Gallatin River, one of three major sources of the Missouri, which commences 34 miles downstream. In the early 20th century, the town served as the railroad's visitor center for easterners venturing to nearby Yellowstone National Park.

Invitation Only

We want FCRC to be intimate and interactive, so we are limiting attendance in this, its first year. Invitees include agtech and food entrepreneurs, their customers, investors, distribution channels and corporate executives. We will also invite thought leaders, academics, policy-makers and other really smart people with creative ideas and a passion for the future of food and agriculture. We encourage you to nominate other change-agents you think can contribute. Just send an email us at fcriverbank@gmail.com. and we will do our best to accommodate.

We encouage you to bring your family to Montana and spend a little extra time exploring in and around the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem on your own.

Action Items for You:

  1. Purchase a Ticket for $325. We have pegged the price to come close to the cost of putting on the conference. Once purchased, tickets are non-refundable. However, we are able to transfer tickets to another designee or use the funds to provide scholarships for students to attend the conference.
  2. Contribute (optional) any amount to provide "scholarships" for students to attend.
  3. Email us at fcriverbank@gmail.com if you want to host a conversation or have an idea for one.
  4. Email us at the same address if you want to nominate additional invitees.

Once you have purchased a ticket:

You will receive updates regarding transportation, lodging, dining and optional activities including flyfishing, hiking, biking, visiting Yellowstone and exploring Bozeman and its surroundings, including one of the world'spremier dinosaur museums. You can also check out www.foodcrunch.com to find out more about us.

How do I get Southwestern Montana?

The Bozeman airport (BZN) hosts several major airlines including: United, Delta, Alaska/Virgin America, Sky West, American and Allegiant.

What are my transportation/parking options for local transportation?

The Bozeman airport hosts most major rental car companies. The town also has Uber service and private taxi cabs including Greater Valley Taxi (406) 587-6303. But if you want to explore the region, you probably will need a car. Parking at the venue is plentiful and free.

Where should I stay, eat, play?

Soon after you purchase your ticket, you will receive information on lodging and activities.
