Food Shift's Alameda Kitchen Launch Party and Benefit

About the Alameda Kitchen: Using fresh fruits and vegetables that would otherwise be discarded from farms and distributors due to imperfections, the Alameda Kitchen will create nutritious food products that can be sold to local food businesses and provided at low cost to food insecure communities. The Alameda Kitchen will be housed at Alameda Point Collaborative (APC), a housing community in the city of Alameda for 500 formerly homeless individuals. In the kitchen, we will train, educate, engage, and employ APC residents, the majority of whom are unemployed and living below the poverty line.

This party is to celebrate with some of our biggest supporters, advisors, partners, and our growing team. We’d love for you to be part of this special gathering!

Tickets: $100 per person

The Launch Party will include:

• Tastings prepared by the Alameda Kitchen chef made from food that would have otherwise gone to waste

• Beverages from Alameda-based Rock Wall Winery and Faction Brewing

• Featuring guest speaker Robert Egger coming from LA

• A silent auction with many prizes donated from local establishments, including cooking classes, baseball tickets, tennis club memberships, and restaurant gift certificates.

We are excited to announce that Rober Egger, founder of LA Kitchen and DC Central Kitchen, will be attending and speaking at the Alameda Kitchen launch party. Included in the NonProfit Times list of the “50 Most Powerful and Influential” nonprofit leaders from 2006-2009, Robert is a Food Shift advisor, and his work has been a huge inspiration for Alameda Kitchen.

We hope you'll join us to taste food made by our new chef using surplus food and get a first look at the kitchen!
