Event description

Description

Central and West Integration Network (CWIN) are planning an event to discuss findings and future plans from their community-led research project that explored food, diet and obesity. This project was supported by the NHS Health Scotland Community Food and Health (Scotland) programme.

The aim is to raise awareness of issues around food insecurity, diet and obesity within the black and minority and asylum seekers and refugee communities in Glasgow. It will also be an opportunity to seek ways to work with these communities to remove barriers to access to services which will improve their quality of life.

This event is for people who work in the field of food and food insecurity, from community to policy levels.

Accessibility

The venue does not have accessible access - there is no lift. Please tell us how we can best help you to participate in the event and if you have other needs that we can help with.

Further information about the research

This community-led research approach builds on a previous Central and West Integration Network project exploring food security in Black and Ethnic Minority (BME) people in Glasgow. For this project, CWIN recruited and trained a team of 12 Community Researchers to participate in the design and implementation of the research project.

The reports from both research projects are available on the Community Food and Health (Scotland) website:

Food security, diet and obesity (2019)

Community-led research into food security (2016)
