Learn to Ferment!
Interested in making sauerkraut and kimchi? Did you know the same principles apply to fermenting all kinds of vegetables, and even grains? Come learn to ferment, and you'll go home ready to explore and create living foods.
This comprehensive class will cover everything you need to start fermenting: ingredients, philosophy, preparation, and a community of fermentation enthusiasts!
Basic Class outline:
- Walking tour of the adjacent Union Square Farmers Market to discuss shopping with fermenting in mind. Pick up ingredients for class fermenting project (cost included in registration)
- Lecture and discussion
- Food Prep and Fermentation!
- Culture Sharing: Bring any cultures you'd like to share and exchange (sourdough, water or milk kefir grains, kombucha mothers, etc)
Each participant will take home a jar or two of product created in class, a copy of Sandor Katz' Wild Fermentation pamphlet, and the knowledge and confidence to explore with fermentation projects at home.
Jeremy Ogusky is the owner and potter behind Ogusky Ceramics. He has a passion for good food and good craft. Jeremy frequently runs fermentation demos while selling his beautiful fermentation crocks, available in the Relish store.
