Food Photography and Styling workshop in Prince Edward County
Thu, May 18, 2017, 4:00 PM – Sat, May 20, 2017, 4:00 PM EDT
You’re invited to join us this May for a three-day, two-night, Food Photography and Styling workshop in Prince Edward County.
This Spring getaway is the perfect occasion to unwind, reconnect with your creativity, meet new people and discover local culinary delights. Food photographers Valeria Bismar and Ariel Tarr will guide and accompany you in learning the art of Food Photography.
The workshop is held at the charming Angeline’s Inn in Bloomfield. Bloomfield is conveniently located at the heart of the County making it the ideal spot to explore several wineries, boutiques, great restaurants and the famous Sandbanks within minutes of driving. The Inn’s relaxed setting and uniquely designed rooms is the perfect homey setting nurturing discussion and creativity.
The workshop is a wonderful opportunity to discover this buzz-worthy area with it’s natural wonders all while honing one’s photography and styling skills. We’ll have a guest food blogger and stylist joining us on Day 2 of the workshop to speak about Food Styling basics. Being part of a small group allows for lots of personalized attention and a supportive and intimate setting.
An emphasis will be placed on local ingredients sourced from Bloomfield and surrounding farms as the natural subjects of our food photos. Both Valeria and Ariel will demonstrate on different types of foods and with different lighting and propping styles. You will be exposed to a variety of creative avenues to explore during your free shooting time. A variety of hand-picked props and backgrounds will be provided as key elements to create new images during the workshop.
Of course, we can’t forget the food! We’ll enjoy delicious breakfasts, appetizers, lunches and dinners (with a gorgeous glass of wine!) at The Hubb Eatery and Lounge where seasonal and local ingredients are used to create a farm-to-table cuisine. We’ll also enjoy a lunch at a local Bloomfield restaurant on our departing day.
No visit to Prince Edward County is complete without a visit to a winery and wine tasting. On Day 3 we’ll delve into on-location Photography and Lifestyle Photography with a fun styled shoot using nature or interior location as our background.
What’s covered in the workshop
You will learn how to improve your styling and composition skills and get useful tips on creating easy-to- make studio set-ups. Our workshops are comprised of several Photography and Styling demos where participants can observe our working methods first-hand. After each demo, you will have the chance to put in practice what you have learned with creative assignments. The workshop covers topics such as composition, depth of field, white balance, lighting (natural light), choosing and sourcing props for Food Photography, trends in Food Photography and an intro to post-production with Lightroom.
