Anybody that wants to learn how to cook beautiful Punjabi food. Purdy Giles was born in the Punjab region of India, and arrived in the UK at the age of 2, where she was raised in a traditional Sikh family in the Midlands. The inherent conflict of two cultures lead to her leaving her parental home the age of 16. This resulted in her being ex-communicated and estranged from her family and community for 41 years.
She is a non-practising Social worker, giving up her career at the end of 2017 to focus on reclaiming her Cultural Heritage and improve her health and wellbeing. She retained her passion for sharing the cuisine of her homeland with her family, her friends and her colleagues, but always felt the loss of her community and family. Embarking on her current path, she has had the opportunity to visit her relatives in India in January 2019 and this lead to reunification with her parents in August 2019.
She feels that by reclaiming her Cultural Identity in a way that honours her as a first-generation Asian female, she has come home to herself. She gives inspirational talks about her "journey" with live cooking demos, facilitates workshops at her home as well as alternative venues, and she is now able to cater for parties and functions, following her 5* Food Safety certificate awarded in January 2020.
