Food packaging protects food, serves as source of information to consumers, distinguishes brands and facilitates logistics. Recently, food packaging has increasingly been scrutinized for its impact on health and environment. Pictures of beaches littered with plastic packaging are now part of our modern reality. Bisphenol A (BPA) has become a household name and poster child toxin.
How do different types of packaging interact with the packed food? What happens to plastics that are not discarded properly? How to choose wisely as a customer? And are bioplastics part of the solution— or just another part of the problem? These and other questions will be discussed and shared at this networking and experience sharing event.
GreenBuzz and the Food Packaging Forum have the pleasure to invite you to the third event in the sustainability of food and agriculture series. The event is a partner session of the Zürich isst month.
This thematic evening will feature short inputs from industry leaders as well as two start-ups from along the packaging value chain and a scientific expert. Speakers will give an overview of scientific challenges and share their company's practice story about food packaging and its sustainability impact in order to spark the discussion in the GreenBuzz Zurich community. Different, sometimes conflicting, aspects of sustainability are covered: C02 reduction, shelf life, recycling, chemical food safety, biodegradability. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn and exchange more about the topics through informal discussion breaks. Snacks and drinks will be served throughout the evening.
