Event description

Description

What do our food choices have to do with health and the planet? Nearly everything. J. Morris Hicks, author of Healthy Eating, Healthy World and the 4Leaf Guide to Vibrant Health, will explain how the future of humanity depends on what we put on our plates. Jim will explore the nexus between individual and public health, global food security, and climate change -- an important discussion for anyone seeking to take action for greater personal well-being and environmental sustainability. Most importantly, he brings a message of hope for the future.

All guests are invited to participate in a simple plant-based potluck preceding our featured speaker. Details will be circulated to registrants.

J. Morris Hicks is the CEO of 4Leaf Global. A former Strategic Management Consultant and Senior Corporate Executive with Ralph Lauren in New York, Jim has always focused on the big picture when analyzing any issue. In 2002, after becoming curious about the optimal human diet, he began a study of what we eat from a global perspective, discovering many startling issues and opportunities along the way. In addition to an MBA from the University of Hawaii and a BS in Industrial Engineering from Auburn University, he holds a Certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition from eCornell and the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies, where he has also served as a member of the Board of Directors. Having concluded that our food choices hold the key to the sustainability of our civilization, he now writes and speaks about this topic as his life's top priority.
