Dr. Thomas Campbell
Thomas M. Campbell II, MD is the co-founder and clinical director of the University of Rochester Program for Nutrition in Medicine, where he works with individuals and groups to prevent and treat illness through diet and lifestyle. A board certified family physician, Dr. Campbell is also medical director of the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies, a leading provider, in partnership with eCornell, of online education in plant-based nutrition. A graduate of Cornell University, Thomas is author of The Campbell Plan and co-author, with his father T. Colin Campbell, PhD, of The China Study, a worldwide bestseller.
Dr. Campbell got his medical degree from the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and completed residency training in Family Medicine at the University of Rochester, Highland Hospital. He has published in the Israel Medical Association Journal and in CME publications Primary Care Reports and Integrative Medicine Alert. He has completed multiple marathons.
Rip Esselstyn
Rip Esselsyn was born in upstate New York, was raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a three-time All-American swimmer and majored in speech communications. After graduation Rip spent a decade as one of the premier triathletes in the world. He then joined the Austin Fire Department where he introduced his passion for a whole-foods, plant-based diet to Austin’s Engine 2 Firehouse in order to rescue a firefighting brother’s health. To document his success he wrote the national bestselling book, The Engine 2 Diet, which shows the irrefutable connection between a plant-based diet and good health. His most recent book, Plant-Strong, became a #1 New York Times Bestseller.
Six years ago, Rip left his job as a firefighter to team up with Whole Foods Market as one of their Healthy Eating Partners to raise awareness for team members, customers, and communities about the benefits of eating a whole food, plant-strong diet. He has appeared on numerous national television shows, including the Today show, CBS Morning Show, Good Morning America, and the Dr. Oz show.
Dr. Michelle McMacken
Michelle McMacken, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician and Assistant Professor of Medicine at NYU School of Medicine. An honors graduate of Yale University and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, she has more than ten years’ experience practicing primary care, directing an obesity clinic, and teaching doctors-in-training at Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City. Dr. McMacken is an enthusiastic supporter of plant-based nutrition and is committed to educating patients and doctors about the power of healthy eating and lifestyle modification. She has been featured on the Rich Roll Podcast, ForksOverKnives.com, Sirius Doctor Radio, and MindBodyGreen.com, among others. She has a Certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition from Cornell University.
Dr. Robert Ostfeld
Robert Ostfeld, M.D., MSc., a cardiologist, is the Director of Preventive Cardiology and the founder of the Cardiac Wellness Program at Montefiore. He is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Associate Director of the Cardiology Fellowship at Montefiore-Einstein.
Dr. Ostfeld earned his BA from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa; his MD from Yale University School of Medicine; and his Masters of Science in Epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Ostfeld completed his medical internship and residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital and his cardiology fellowship and research fellowship in Preventive Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital - both teaching hospitals of Harvard Medical School.
His professional interests include cardiovascular disease prevention, medical education and clinical research. He earned the Outstanding Full Time Attending of the Year award at Montefiore for excellence in teaching medical residents; the Program Director's Award for dedicated service on behalf of the Montefiore-Einstein Cardiology Fellowship; and was elected to the Leo M. Davidoff Society at Einstein for outstanding achievement in the teaching of medical students.
Dr. Garth Davis
Dr. Garth Davis is the medical director of the Davis Clinic at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, and starred on the hit TLC show Big Medicine.
In addition to his new book Proteinaholic, Dr. Davis is author of The Expert’s Guide to Weight Loss Surgery. Dr. Davis graduated from the UT in Austin where he was the Student Government President. Dr. Davis completed his surgical residency at the prestigious University of Michigan. While there, Dr. Davis underwent extensive training in general surgical disciplines, specializing in laparoscopic procedures.
Dr. Davis has been named a Texas Monthly “Super Doc” several times, most recently in 2015. Dr. Davis is a recognized expert in initial bariatric procedures as well as revisional bariatric surgery, and frequently lectures on the importance of a plant-based diet. He is dedicated to helping people discovern the foods and adopt the behaviors that can lead to a healthy and happy life.
Now that he’s totally recovered Proteinaholic, Dr. Davis competes in marathons and Ironman triathlons. He lives in Houston with his family, a shy cat, and an absurdly large dog.
