Folk Art Decoration

An evening of making and sharing ideas on the theme of folk art.

The class will take place via zoom.

At The Virtual Thread we believe in learning in an informal setting, we encourage participants to interact with the tutor and each other as often our best ideas come from discussons with like minded people.

The class is suitable for all levels of ability.

We will be concentrating on Northern European floral folk decorations, that can easily be made in to brooches and pendants or used as decoration stitched directly on to a garment.

In this class you will learn:

* how to design a floral folk art decoration

* use of colour to best represent your design

*The use of layers of fabric to create a 3D effect

You will need to have the following supplies to complete the class

* small pieces of coloured felt

* coloured threads, stranded embroidery thread is best, but normal sewing cotton thread can also be used.

* basic sewing kit to include small scissors, needles, pins

*pencil and paper
