FOKUS presents Story Time Art: A Celebration of Family **NEW DATE**
Sunday, February 17, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (EST)
***NEW DATE TO NYC SNOWSTORM FORECASTS FOR FEB 8-9th***
You're invited to join FOKUS at 10am on Sunday, February 17th, as we take children and their families on an exciting trip using the books "Peter's Chair" and "The Jones Family Express" during a morning of artmaking and reading at Dee & Ricky's Home Cooking. FOKUS will be reading each book to the children and then leading them in an arts and crafts workshop where they will create collage postcards based on themes from each book.
The postcards that the children will design following Peter's Chair will be based on the themes of family, sharing and siblings. The second postcard will be based on The Jones Family Express' themes of family, creativity, giving and travel.
We will supply all needed materials, but feel free to bring old magazines that you were planning to throw away because we are promoting reusable art materials. Also, we will cover the postage so the children can mail their postcards - because everyone loves to get art in the mail!
Dee and Ricky's will also have a special Breakfast menu available at this event.

When & Where
FOKUS increases the public's access to the arts through arts education programming and community-based arts events. Our mission is to educate, empower and unite diverse communities by using the arts.
FOKUS is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit that nurtures success in under-resourced communities by exposing their members to unexpected art experiences. This is to help them discover their own creativity and use it to better themselves and their communities. We also publish INSIGHT, an online arts magazine.
