RESCHEDULED DATE FOR CLIMB SMART 2020 IS APRIL 16-18, 2021

Welcome to the only site for purchasing tickets to the annual FOJT Climb Smart event, staging at a NEW LOCATION this year, emphasizing equitable access, safety in gathering and sharpening climbing skills.

We've worked closely with the Park and have secured INDIAN COVE GROUP CAMPGROUND and the Amphitheater to have the entire event within the Park!

For just $189 you get

  • two nights camping
  • 6 clinic sessions lead by experienced AMGA/PCGI certified guides to refresh or introduce Trad Climbing skills.
  • interaction and training from top pro climbers
  • 2 catered dinners under the stars Friday and Saturday Nights
  • Vendor Village access (gear + fun + swag!)
  • 2 nights of entertainment in the Indian Cove Amphitheater
  • access our famous swag raffle and silent auction.

Best of all you'll be supporting the climbing community and access to legendary outdoor climbing for years to come.

JTNP embarks on a Climbing Management Plan THIS YEAR, and it's key that the community provides strong numbers and a strong voice to guide Park policy over the next 20 years.

We're operating a smaller, more spaced-out event this year; we are limiting to 100 registrants... and are at 88 registrants as of the reschedule date (Oct. 15). Do not wait too long! This event is FOJT's one big fund-raiser of the year, in support of JOSAR, HARP, JT Climber Stewards, Climber Coffee, Access Fund and running our operations for the entire next year. And Yes, we are 501 c(3) (since 1991) so contributions are tax-deductible.

After March 15, 2021, A full clinic schedule can be downloaded from our website at www.friendsofjosh.org

Also, share with your friends through your social stream! Activism and Advocacy go together, right? :-}

FAQs

Are there COVID-19 Mitigation Measures being taken for this event?

Yes. The event stages 100% outdoors, in the Park, and there will be protocols for adequate spacing, masking and hygiene stations at all event venues. This will require vigilance on the part of all attendees, and spotters will be monitoring sites for proper adherence to event rules that mirror best practices in the field, as well as guidance from the county (San Bernardino) and the National Park.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

A picture ID that matches the online registration will be required at check-in. No one under the age of 12 is allowed, persons 12 - 17 must have a responsible parent or guardian present at all times.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Parking will be the limiting factor at the Indian Cove Group Campground. Entrance into the National Park requires an entrance fee for each vehicle and parking is extremely limited, so maximum carpool energy will be required. Please use our Climb Smart facebook page to correspond about carpool opportunities from key SoCal activity centers (Cities, Venues, Starbucks, Climbing Gyms, anywhere a density of registrants can be found). We will not be managing entry into the Park, since the event takes place inside the Park. Information will be available at check-in. Regular park entrance fee is $30 per vehicle for a 7 day pass.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

  • o    No dogs! Sorry, we are not able to allow dogs at any part of our event.  There are boarding facilities available in the town of Joshua Tree.
  • o    No firearms
  • o    No drugs or excessive alcohol use
  • o    Smoking is not allowed in the clinic, food service or presentation areas

Thank you for helping to keep this event safe and fun for all participants!

 Is my registration/ticket transferable?

Only with written approval by the Friends of Joshua Tree at least one week before the start of the event, after submission of the substitute participants contact information" The transferee may not have the ability to change clinic choices or other options, since schedules will be finalized.

 What is the refund policy?

Climb Smart is a 501 c(3) charity event owned and operated by Friends Of Joshua Tree, and we make commitments to vendors as soon as registrations come in. Therefore, there can be NO refunds for any reason other than cancellation of the event. Thank you for your support and understanding.
